When disasters strike at home or abroad the Church has the ability to respond like no other institution in the world. Whether you’re called to go, collect and organize or raise funds we can all play a vital role.
Practically speaking, most churches don’t have a “disaster relief” person on their staff to coordinate in the event of an emergency. However there are many great organizations that you and your church can partner with. For those of you called to raise funds or collect needed items (water filters, blankets, tarps, medical supplies, etc) you can find a lot of great information and tools on how to do that well at the following websites. Additionally, if you’re called to be someone who helps out in the crisis zone itself, you can team up with those who are poised to respond quickly at these as well.
