If you’re like me you want opportunities to get to know your neighbors better in a relaxed environment. However, that usually means a lot of planning and details to pull that off. Here’s a simple, fun and tasty way to build those friendships. Throw an ice cream party. You’ll ask them to bring their favorite topping(s) and you’ll provide the rest.

I’ll attach a document you can use to invite your neighbors. Its best to personally invite but if they’re not home, you can slip this inside their door or tape it to their mailbox (Don’t put it inside the box as many postal workers will remove it as they view the mailbox as their space. I don’t know what the law is but I believe there’s a statute in place that legally allows them to do so.)

        Setup List:
We invested in a bunch of cheap lawn/camp folding chairs. We have about 10. Sometimes people bring their own but it’s nice for them to know they don’t have to in the future.
We set up one or two six foot folding tables that we also invested in a while back. (You’ll find other uses for these over the years such as garage sales and painting projects, etc)
Cooler or two full of ice or enough to keep your ice cream cold.
Ice Cream. Buy enough Depending on the RSVP’s you get. It’s always better to overestimate. Besides, can you ever have too much ice cream?
Paper or plastic bowls (for ice cream and/or for toppings that people were asked to bring.)
        Paper or plastic cups
        Plastic spoons
        Napkins
        Bottled or Pitcher(s) of water.

        Ambiance:
If you want to go a bit further, think about ambiance. Maybe add some music, tiki torches or string some lights. If it’s really hot, maybe add an oscillating fan or two.

See attached word document you can edit/use and print on card stock or see the pdf for ideas.
